HIP-HOP DANCE PROGRAM (Click Here to Book Program)
"It's not the move, it's the groove!"
I. Program Description: Hip-Hop Dance (Phys. Ed.)
Dictionaries define hip-hop as "The expression of the relationship between youth and their environment" and we certainly agree! Technically Hip-Hop Dance is a contemporary art form consisting of poppin', lockin‘ and Breakin'. Hip-Hop Dance is physically invigorating, thoroughly satisfying, and entirely safe!
What will it look like when you come to our school?
Generally, SoundKreations facilitators will instruct during the student's regularly scheduled Phys. Ed time. Facilitators will run the students ranging in grade and class size through 30min-45min lessons. Instruction will cover all aspects of hip-hop dance. The classes will generally include formal instruction, group exercises, choreographed dance routines, and if requested, will conclude with a Celebration Assembly. There is no standard program length, that being said, we strongly suggest a minimum of 5 units of hip-hop per class for the program to reach its greatest potential.
What experience do you have?
SoundKreations employs some of the most experienced and qualified instructors in the city; some holding Masters Degrees in dance and all holding a minimum of 10 years dance experience. SoundKreations' instructors are unique, hired not only for their dance experience but also for their commitment to the youth of your city. Our instructors specialize in the instruction of hip-hop dance within the School setting and are thus capable of addressing the unique needs of your students during their exploration of hip-hop dance.
Is the music you use to teach your classes age-appropriate?
Yes. All music used is squeaky clean, positive, and uplifting
Is the program safe for our students?
Yes. At the beginning of each session we will lead the students through thorough warm-ups and stretches- exercises that the students are encouraged to run through before any dancing takes place. The dance moves themselves are entirely safe and created/altered with your students in mind. So no, we will not be teaching your students how to do head-spins!
The main objectives of the Hip-Hop Dance Program are as follows:
1. To introduce a method of maintaining physical health in a fun and accessible way.
2. To redefine the current cultural agreement around dance.
3. Develop the student's skills as collaborative workers and creative problem solvers.
4. To encourage and enrich the student's understanding and practice of creative movement.
5. To give students an opportunity to develop new methods of healthy and creative recreation.
6. To give students a new framework within which the creative process is socially encouraged.
7. To explore an art-form with ancient roots through a modern-day lens giving renewed appreciation for the creative process.
8. To deliver the program in such a way that the students relate immediately to the instructor and material bringing the participation and involvement of the students to an exceptionally high level.
9. To create a safe environment for the students to explore, create, and perform within.
10. To offer endless opportunities for success!
