Melissa Buluran is a born and raised Calgarian with over 20 years of dance experience. She is also a registered nurse/healer and traveler! She began her formal dance training in Calgary, AB, at the age of three and trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, tap, musical theatre, and her forte – hip hop. She continues her dance training in various styles such as house, hip hop, afro fusion, and urban choreography.
Dance has been this tool for Melissa to find her own beat and to connect with herself, others, and the world by honouring that beat. This has lead her down a path in which she’s found a passion to help empower others. She does so through teaching dance, in classes such as, women empowerment workshops, high school immigrant bridging programs, and schools of all ages for children with SoundKreations. She also shares that same energy through performance opportunities such as competitions, showcases, festivals, events, and creative projects. Melissa provides a cheerful and encouraging safe space for students to go out of their comfort zone and push past personal fears whilst integrating authenticity, confidence, connection, resiliency, and vulnerability.
