5 Ways to Support Your Dance Program

Fernando was introduced to Calgary’s Hip-Hop Funk Styles Scene at an early age. Learning basic fundamentals in as many styles as he could. Specifically in popping, locking, bboying, house, and even dance hall. He started as a member of the local break dancing crew, Juice Box Crew, which has gained recognition locally for winning dance battles, performing around the city and doing volunteer work with youth around the City of Calgary with charities such as Unity. Shortly after Fernando became introduced to LA style choreography and now has a competitive elite team called Universoul Dance.

Fernando has a major passion for teaching dance and training as a top level elite dancer himself. He has been teaching for over 5 years now from ages as young as four all the way up to adults and has been training his craft outside of the city, doing his training in cities such as Edmonton, Vancouver and Los Angeles.

In August of 2014 Fernando recently represented Canada at Hip Hop International (Dance Competition). Placing 9th out of 60 of the worlds best teams in Las Vegas. Performed for WE DAY 2014 at the saddledome. Won first place at WOD LA (World of Dance Los Angeles) and has danced for Janet Jackson in her unbreakable tour (2015).

His main goal is to inspire others, specifically the youth to be open and branch out into different styles of urban arts and truly learn and appreciate the power and positivity of Hip-Hop. Making our community more diverse in its urban dancing.
